Andrea Ar Gouilh

Andrée Le Gouil (born 13 July 1935), known by her stage name Andrea Ar Gouilh, is a French singer. A pioneer in the revival of Breton chanson, she performs songs from Barzaz Breiz, a collection of popular Breton songs, but also more recent compositions by Glenmor and Jef Le Penven for example. She had a decisive influence on the career of Alan Stivell and that of her own daughter, Nolwenn Korbell. Ar Gouilh found in song the means to express the dignity of a culture, a memory and a Breton way of being which influences the vision of the world.
