Battle of Mosul (2008)
The Battle of Mosul was fought during the Iraq War in May 2008, for control of the capital of the Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq and was part of the 2008 Nineveh campaign. The battle began on 23 January 2008, and drew to a close in 24 May as the city and surrounding areas declared secured by the military.
