Canção do Mar

"Canção do Mar" (in English: "Song of the Sea") is a song in the fado tradition by Portuguese singer Amália Rodrigues first appearing in the film "Les amants du Tage" recorded with lyrics written for the film entitled "Solidad". It was released as a single in 1954 by Columbia Records. Fado has strong ties to the port district of Lisbon and incorporates poetry often related to the sea. On 27 November 2011, fado was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. released a version in 1961, using the original title "Canção do Mar".
