Ed van Dommelen

Eduardus Hendricus “Ed” van Dommelen (27 September 1934 – 7 March 2021) was Dutch politician of the Catholic People's Party and later Christian Democratic Appeal. Van Dommelen was born in Westdorpe. His career began in 1951. In May 1977 he became mayor of Huijbergen. Van Dommelen was described as a mayor with a vision. He redesigned Huijbergen and built an event square. In the region he was chairman of the West Brabant department of the Royal Dutch Cycling Union (KNWU) and he was chairman of the West Brabant and Zeeland music association. Van Dommelen was in several projects a successful mediator. On 1 January 1997 the municipality merged into municipality Woensdrecht, and as a result, his position was discontinued.
