Fatoumata Sylla

Fatoumata Sylla (born 11 December 1954), fondly known as Fanta Sylla, is a Malian lawyer and the first female Minister of Justice of Mali from 2 May 2004 to 3 October 2007. She is also the first female Malian lawyer and the first female Batonnière of the Bar Association of Mali. Sylla came to the public notice after her defence of President Moussa Traore and some members of his regime accused at the so-called “blood crimes” (1992-1993) and “economic crimes” (1998) trials.
