Feast of the Sacred Heart

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (Latin: Sollemnitas Sacratissimi Cordis Iesu) is a solemnity in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church and certain Anglo-Catholic communities. As celebrated in the Roman Rite of the Latin Church, it falls on the Friday that follows the second Sunday after Pentecost (id est at the first Friday after the former octave of that feast). The devotion to the Sacred Heart is one of the most widely practiced and well known Catholic devotions, taking Jesus Christ's physical heart as the representation of his divine love for humanity.
