Dr Gregor Ian Smith is a Scottish general practitioner (GP), who has been the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland. He was appointed on an interim basis on 5 April 2020 following the resignation of Dr Catherine Calderwood, and confirmed on a permanent basis on 23 December 2020. Prior to his appointment as Interim Chief Medical Officer, Smith was Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, having been appointed by the Scottish Government in 2015.
