HMS Adventure (1646)
Adventure was a 34-gun fourth-rate frigate of the English Royal Navy, built by Peter Pett II at Woolwich and launched in 1646. The term 'frigate' during the period of this ship referred to a method of construction, rather than a role which did not develop until the following century. Adventure was employed on Bulstrode Whitelocke's embassy to Sweden, 1653–1654. She was present at the Battle of Lowestoft (1665) and the Battle of Solebay (1672).
