HMS Crested Eagle

HMS Crested Eagle was a paddle steamer sunk in the Dunkirk evacuation. The ship was built by J. Samuel White & Co in 1925, and was taken over by the Admiralty during the Second World War to be used as a minesweeper. On 29 May 1940 it was attacked by the Germans during the British evacuation from Dunkirk. The ship is now still visible at low spring tide on the beach of Zuydcoote.
