István Tarlós

István Tarlós (pronounced [ˈiʃtvaːn ˈtɒrloːʃ]; 26 May 1948 in Budapest) is a Hungarian politician who served as the Mayor of Budapest from 2010 to 2019. Previously he served as the Mayor of the Third District (Óbuda-Békásmegyer) of the city between 1990 and 2006 (as an independent candidate). Since 2006 he was the Chairman of the Fidesz–Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) Fraction-Alliance in the General Assembly of the Municipality of Budapest, and served as the political leader of the initiative "Social Referendum 2008".
