John P. Stockton
John Potter Stockton (August 2, 1826 – January 22, 1900) was a New Jersey politician who served in the United States Senate as a Democrat. He was New Jersey Attorney General for twenty years (1877 to 1897), and served as United States Minister to the Papal States from 1858 to 1861. Stockton died in New York City on January 22, 1900. He was buried at Princeton Cemetery.
