This list of American saints and beatified people includes not only saints of the Catholic Church but also those who are not yet recognized as saints but as beati, venerabili, servants of God or candidates for sainthood and who are significantly associated with what was either at the time, or subsequently became, the United States. Several American Catholics have been considered for sainthood over the past 500 years. Catholics continue to contribute to American religious life. Most of these Americans were born after 1850.
