Tornado counts are considered preliminary until final publication in the database of the National Centers for Environmental Information. On average, there are 155 confirmed tornadoes in the United States in April, 276 confirmed tornadoes in May, and 243 confirmed tornadoes in June. April was well below average with only 63 tornadoes. May saw quite a few more tornadoes than April, but was still well below average with 173 tornadoes.
