Kanye West is an American rapper, record producer, director, fashion designer, and songwriter. He has received various awards and nominations for his work in each of the aforementioned fields. West rose to prominence in the early 2000s, earning several honors for his work as a producer. He transitioned to become a recording artist, and won Best New Male Artist at both the 2004 World Music Awards and 2004 Billboard Music Awards. The same year, West released his debut album The College Dropout (2004). The album won several awards, and helped West receive the third most Grammy nominations in one night (10) at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. The album won Best Rap Album, while its single "Jesus Walks" won Best Rap Song. The latter would elsewhere win Best Male Video at the 2005 MTV Video Music
