It was released in September 1991 worldwide as the fifth and last single from her second solo album, Into the Light. The song was written by Estefan, her husband Emilio Estefan and Diane Warren, and produced by Estefan, Jr., Jorge Casas and Clay Ostwald. Gloria dedicated the song to her husband, like she did with "Coming Out of the Dark", "How Can I Be Sure" and "Hoy". "Live for Loving You" was also the most danceable single released from the album, and it was the second with the most highest positions at the charts. It peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also the first from this album that appeared on the dance music charts. It is a "Favourite" of Estefan's fans.
