Lyon Commune

The Lyon Commune was a short-lived revolutionary movement in Lyon, France, in 1870 and 1871, by republicans and activists from several components of the far-left of the time who seized power in Lyon and established autonomous power. The commune organized elections and dissolved after a republican normality was restored, which frustrated the most radical elements, who hoped for a different revolution. The latter twice tried to regain power without success. This happened as part of a revolutionary wave that culminated with the 1871 Paris Commune.
