Monte Vale

Roy Mountford "Monte" Vale (12 September 1912 – 10 September 1977) was an Australian politician. He was born in Foster to schoolteacher William Mountford Vale and Flora Ethel Reddick. He attended state schools before studying at Melbourne Teachers' College and becoming a teacher from 1934. In 1949 he became seriously ill and lost a leg to amputation. He then worked as a laboratory assistant for Australian Paper Manufacturers. He died at Heidelberg in 1977. His son Roger Vale was a member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly.
