Mount Okukane
Mount Okukane (奥鐘山, Okukane-yama) is a mountain located between the towns of Tateyama and Kurobe in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. The mountain has an elevation of 1,543 m (5,062 ft). Mount Okukane rises dramatically between the Kurobe Gorge and the to form, at 600 metres (2,000 ft), one of the foremost sheer rock faces in Japan. The mountain is primarily composed of granite and is part of the Hida Mountains, also known as the Northern Japan Alps. Mount Okukane, together with the Kurobe and gorges, were designated a Special Natural Monument and Special Place of Scenic Beauty in 1964.
