Nicholas Newman (athlete)

Nicholas Ian Newman is a Paralympian athlete from Bloemfontein, South Africa competing mainly in category F36 javelin events. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy from birth. In the 2001 SA Games (Stellenbosch) he broke the Senior world record while being a Junior and in the 2003 SA Games (Germiston) he broke his own world record. He competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece where he did not win a medal in the F36 shot put but continued on to win the gold medal in the F36/38 javelin competition. Four years later in Beijing, China he finished third, winning a bronze medal, when attempting to defend his title in the F36/38 javelin. In 2013 he competed in the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final, held in London, where he finished in 13th place. In 2015, he competed in the ITU World
