Passing is a 2021 drama film written and directed by Rebecca Hall in her feature directorial debut. The film is based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen. The title refers to African-Americans pretending to be white, the practice of passing. The film stars Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, André Holland, Alexander Skarsgård, and Bill Camp. It had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 30, 2021, and will be released by Netflix later in the year.
