Pattariyar

Pattariyar is Hindu community residing in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. They are one of the principal weaving castes of South India and were known for silk-weaving. The titles of Pattariyars are Pillai, Mudaliar or Setty. A few group of Aryans migrated to south India mainly to Karnataka, AndhraPradesh and to Tamilnadu. The migrants to Karnataka is named as Padmashali (പത്മശാലിയ) The migrants to Andhra Pradesh is named as Devanga (ദേവാന്ഗ ) The migrants to Tamilnadu is named as Kaikkolar / Pattariyar (പട്ടാരിയ ) who settled in Kaanchipuram at that time as silk weavers
