Phil Tinsley
Phil R. Tinsley (January 16, 1924 – July 17, 1989) was an American football player who was an All-American end for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Tinsley initially attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he played for the Alabama Crimson Tide freshman football team in 1942. He subsequently transferred to Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, as a member of the V-12 Navy College Training Program – a World War II-era program to train commissioned officers for the U.S. Navy.
