It is on the north side of California State Route 36, 68 miles (109 km) west of Red Bluff and 69 miles (111 km) east of U.S. Route 101 near Fortuna. Hayfork, the nearest post office, is 14 miles (23 km) to the north on California State Route 3. Post Mountain was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.
