President of Turkey

The president of the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Cumhurbaşkanı) is the head of state and head of government of the Republic of Turkey. The office of the president of Turkey was established with the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on 29 October 1923 following the Turkish War of Independence. The Turkish National Movement's Grand National Assembly voted to abolished the latter on 1 November 1922 that marked the end of the Ottoman Empire.
