The term Sayyid brothers refers to Syed Hassan Ali Khan and Syed Husain Ali Khan, who were powerful in the Mughal Empire during the early 18th century. They claimed to belong to the family of Sayyids or the descendants of the Islamic prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatima and son-in-law and cousin Ali who belonged to the Banu Hashim Clan of the Quraish Tribe.
