Shady Grove station

Shady Grove is a Washington Metro station in Derwood in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The station was opened on December 15, 1984 as part of a four-stop extension of the line from Grosvenor–Strathmore station out to Shady Grove. The station is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Serving as the northwestern terminus of the Red Line, it is the most distant Metro station from downtown Washington, D.C. The station is the location of the Shady Grove Yard, one of the largest storage yards in the Metrorail system.
