Thijs van Berckel
Mathias George Maria "Thijs" van Berckel (26 August 1928 – 28 February 2021) was a Dutch politician of the Catholic People's Party and later the Christian Democratic Appeal. He was mayor of Aardenburg (1962-1972), mayor of Mill en Sint Hubert (1972 -1981) and mayor of Geldrop (1981-1993). He was acting mayor of Rosmalen in 1994 and acting mayor of Bergeijk from 1995. He was also involved in several social organizations. For example, Van Berckel was chairman of the between 1974 and 1999.
