The strongest system was Cyclone Zoe, with a central pressure of 890 hectopascals (26 inHg). Zoe was also the second-most intense system before striking Fiji. The costliest and deadliest tropical cyclone of the year was Typhoon Rusa. Rusa killed 233 in South Korea and causing $4.2 billion (2002 USD) in damages.
