USS Governor (AMc-82)

USS Governor (AMc-82) was an Accentor-class coastal minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the dangerous task of removing mines from minefields laid in the water to prevent ships from passing. Governor a wooden-hulled coastal minesweeper was launched by Camden Shipbuilding & Marine Railway Co., Camden, Maine, 26 July 1941; sponsored by Mrs. Richard Lyman; and placed in service 29 January 1942 at Boston Navy Yard, Lt. Alfred F. Page, Jr., in command.
