USS Pilot (AM-104)

USS Pilot (AM-104) was a United States Navy Auk-class minesweeper that saw service in the Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. She was decommissioned and reentered the Reserve Fleet in October 1954, and struck from the Naval Register in July 1972 before being transferred to Mexico that month. She was retired from service in 2004. Pilot was the second U.S. Navy ship to bear the name, drawn from the word "pilot," which is defined as one employed to steer a vessel; a helmsman.
