Valencian language

Valencian (/vəˈlɛn(t)siən, -nʃən/; endonym valencià, llengua valenciana or idioma valencià [valensiˈa, ba-]) is the official, historical and traditional name used in the Valencian Community (Spain) to refer to the Romance language also known as Catalan. The Valencian Community's 1982 Statute of Autonomy and the Spanish Constitution recognise Valencian as the official language (along with Spanish) in the Valencian Community. Valencian is also spoken in the small area of El Carche, in the Región de Murcia (Spain), where it is not official.
