William Tryon

Lieutenant General William Tryon (8 June 1729 – 27 January 1788) was a British Army general and colonial official who served as the 39th governor of New York from 1771 to 1777, assuming the office after having served as the eighth governor of North Carolina from 1765 to 1771.
