The 1997–98 Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team represented Michigan State University in the 1997–98 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played their home games at Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan and were member of the Big Ten Conference. They were coached by 3rd year head coach, Tom Izzo. The Spartans finished the season with a record of 22–8, 13–3 in Big Ten play to share the regular season Big Ten championship. MSU received a bid to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to North Carolina.
