Bus at the Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia, on March 1, 1981. The asteroid is named after Romanian research scientist at the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy and member of the International Astronomical Union, Dan Alin Nedelcu.
