The ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) is an Australian research centre that undertakes research in media studies, cultural studies, communication studies, law, education, economics and business technology and information technology, in relation to the creative economy. The Centre was formally established in 2005 with core funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC), the Australian Government's main agency for allocating research funding to academics and researchers in Australian universities, for the period 2005 to 2010. At this time a series of government-commissioned reports on Australia's innovation system had recently argued for a national commitment to creative innovation.
