Andhra State

(Not to be confused with Andhra Pradesh.) Andhra State Āndhra [IPA: [ˈɑːndʰrʌ]]) was a state in India created on 1 October 1953, from the Telugu-speaking northern districts of Madras State. The state was made up of two distinct cultural regions – Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra. The combined region was commonly called Raayala Seema Costal Andhra or Raayala Seema-Andhra.
