The municipality has a population of 6,197 (as of 1 January 2012) and covers an area of 520.94 km2 (201 sq mi). The population density is 11.8958/km2 (30.8100/sq mi). The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Kehra, with population of 3,196. There are 31 villages in Anija Parish.
