It consists of mesophytic plants west of the Appalachian Mountains in the Southeastern United States. This ecoregion consists of the following EPA level III ecoregions: * Southwestern Appalachians (ecoregion) * Central Appalachians (ecoregion) * Western Allegheny Plateau (ecoregion)
