Boys Like Girls released their self-titled debut album on August 22, 2006. During the first weeks of sales, the album did not sell too well, only reaching the lower half of the Billboard 200. Their first single, "Hero/Heroine", charted at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it was their second single, "The Great Escape", that significantly raised album sales. With the single reaching the Top 40 of the Hot 100, the album managed to re-enter the chart and peak at #55 on the Billboard 200.
