Cleveland Panthers

The Cleveland Panthers were a professional American football team that competed in the first American Football League, founded by Charles "C.C". Pyle, (1882–1939), [also nicknamed as "Cash and Carry" Pyle), in 1926. Owned by General Charles X. Zimmerman, (1865–1926), (the vice president of the earlier AFL), the Panthers played their home games in old Luna Bowl in Luna Park. Coached by Roy E. Watts, the team drew its players from Ohio colleges and universities and raided the rosters of early National Football League teams based in Ohio
