Daniel G. George
Daniel Griffin George (July 7, 1840 – February 26, 1916) was a Union Navy sailor in the American Civil War who received the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. George was born in Plaistow, New Hampshire, on July 7, 1840. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, for extraordinary heroism shown on October 27, 1864, while serving as an Ordinary Seaman with U.S. Picket Boat #1, near Plymouth, North Carolina. His Medal of Honor was issued on December 31, 1864. He died at the age of 75, on February 26, 1916, and was buried at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Merrimac, Massachusetts.
