Death of Samuel Donegan
Samuel Donegan 20 November 1911 – 8 June 1972, was a member of the Garda Síochána who was killed by an IRA bomb. Garda Donegan was a native of County Longford. He was killed by a Provisional IRA booby-trap bomb left by the roadside, at either Legakelly or Drumboghanagh, near Newtownbutler in County Fermanagh. Garda Donegan had crossed the border into Northern Ireland moments before his death.
