Dudley Colles

Commander Sir Ernest Dudley Gordon Colles KCB KCVO OBE (1889 – 13 July 1976) was a British Royal Navy officer and courtier, who served in the Royal Households of George VI and Elizabeth II. Colles was educated at Winchester College and was commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1906. He served as a Naval Paymaster for 26 years, and saw active in the First World War. He became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in June 1919. He subsequently became Secretary to the Third Sea Lord and Second Sea Lord, followed by a period serving as the Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief, North America and West Indies Station. Colles retired as a Paymaster Commander in 1932.
