East West University (EWU) (Bengali: ইস্ট ওয়েস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1996. Its permanent campus is in Jahrul Islam City, Aftab Nagar. The university is accredited by the government of Bangladesh, and its curricula and programs have been approved by the University Grants Commission. As stipulated by the Private University Act, 1992, under which the university was established, the President of Bangladesh is the chancellor of the university and appoints the vice chancellor and treasurer.
