Equality and Democracy Party

Equality and Democracy Party (Eşitlik ve Demokrasi Partisi, EDP) was a left-libertarian and social liberal political party in Turkey. It was founded on 14 March 2010 by Ziya Halis. The Social Democratic People's Party (Turkey)'s 3. Congress resulted in their decision to join EDP. Subsequently, a consensus was reached that the former Minister of Employment and Social Security, Ziya Halis, who is of Kurdish and Alevi descent, was to become the leader of the party.
