Flieger (English translation: "Flyers") was the German entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, performed in German by Italian singer Nino de Angelo. In 1984 de Angelo had had his breakthrough with "Jenseits von Eden"/"La valle del Eden"/"Guardian Angel", a #1 hit in West Germany and Switzerland and a Top 10 in most other parts of Continental Europe and Scandinavia. "Flieger" was composed by Dieter Bohlen, internationally best known as one half of the very successful German Europop duo Modern Talking.
