Governor-General of New Zealand

The Governor-General of New Zealand (Māori: Te Kāwana Tianara o Aotearoa) is the vice-regal representative of the monarch of New Zealand, currently Queen Elizabeth II. Because the Queen is shared equally with the 15 other Commonwealth realms, and usually resides in the United Kingdom, she, on the advice of the prime minister, appoints the governor-general to carry out most of her constitutional and ceremonial duties in the Realm of New Zealand.
