The school was founded by Shikshan Prasarak Mandali, Pune in 1918. Shri. Hirakaka Gandhi, the owner of Haribhai Deokaran Trading Company donated Rs.27000/- to the school. Hence the school was named after his trading company. The students of HDHS are active in academics, arts, sports and in social activities.
