Ilya Berezin

Ilya Nikolayevich Berezin (Russian: Илья́ Никола́евич Бере́зин, 20 July 1818, Perm Governorate, Imperial Russia,— 3 April 1896, Saint Petersburg, Imperial Russia) was a prominent Russian Orientalist, the major authority on the culture, languages and history of Turkey, Iran and Mongolia, the Meritorious Professor of Saint Petersburg University, who wrote both in Russian and French. He was the recipient of numerous high-profile awards, including the Orders of St. Anna (1st class), St. Stanislaus {1st class) and St. Vladimir (3rd class).
