Israfil Ashurly

Israfil Ashurly (Azerbaijani: İsrafil Aşurlu; born January 16, 1969 in Baku, Azerbaijani SSR, USSR) is a mountaineer, explorer, general secretary of Ice-Climbing Commission and Competition, owner of Insol company and president of Azerbaijan Mountaneering Federation. He was the first Azerbaijani to climb Mount Everest and Kangchenjunga, completing the Seven Summits challenge in 2007. He is also first Azerbaijani to receive Snow Leopard award and Volcanic Seven Summits in 2009 and first undisputed Azerbaijani explorer to walk on the North Pole in 2009.
